Sarah Kudirka

Other Stuff

I have long worked in a semi-abstract way with the shapes and edges of things. Stripes and hand lettering have appeared in my work early on along with series focused on furniture and landscape motifs. The earlier work shown here was made under the name Sarah Davenport.

My paintings have always been bold and handmade. Layered with colour, scratched and scraped, glazed and rubbed back then drawn and layered over again, they go through many stages before they are finished.

On occasion I work with found objects that bear the traces of memory or previous lives. My extensive work over Polaroids and more recently on metal furniture, table tennis paddles and vinyl 12” records fall within this enduring strand of my practice.
