‘100 Women Portraits’ is a one-day exhibition presented by K U D I R K A on the occasion of International Womens’ Day, 2026
Agata Pietrusz, a Glasgow-based Polish creative was invited by artist/curator Sarah Kudirka to show her newly-completed personal project ‘100 Women Portraits’
‘It is my first personal project I had started back in 2018. Firstly it was inspired by amazing fashion outfits I was dreaming of, but then it developed to a deeper, more personal commitment. I started painting people I know: friends and relatives or strangers met on a bus or street, women who caught my eye, also people I admire: artists, illustrators and famous personas. Very regularly I paint self portraits, it’s like a diary to me – catches moments in time. Back in 2020 I showed my work for the first time – I hosted workshops for women in Glasgow Museum of Modern Art and the task was to paint self portraits. And yet here I am, 6 years later, for another International Women’s Day, more grateful than ever for an amazing women circle.’ Agata Pietrusz
About the artist:
Originally from Poland, Agata Pietrusz lives and works as an architect in Glasgow. She treats her creative practice as an important part of her life. Since 2018 her artistic interests have been focused mainly on painted wooden objects.
About K U D I R K A
We call it a “sometimes space”, it is neither a commercial enterprise nor a gallery/venue as such. Intended simply as a generous and creative use of a ground-floor room in an artist’s house. When not used for art it is simply part of our private dwelling.
There is seating inside and a toilet. We are happy to help visitors with mobility issues into the house but please note that the exhibition space while all on one level is on the raised ground floor, accessed up 9 steps (with no ramps or handrails installed) from streetlevel so is not fully accessible. Parking at the moment is free on the road outside.
Public transport is close by but the house is on quite a steep hill; bus stops on Great Western Road/Cleveden Road and trains to Hyndland (Scotrail) or Hillhead (Subway).
